"Thomas the Tank Engine" Birthday Card

Hey Everyone!

Although I had plans for both days this weekend, I was snowed in!  Pretty crazy being it's only October, and Haloween isn't til tomorrow.  My nephew had a birthday planned for today, but it had to be re-scheduled due to the storm.  Looking forward to celebrating with him soon!

His actual birthday is tomorrow...he's a Halloween Baby!  This is a card I made for him....he's a big fan of "Thomas and Friends."

I made this card while keeping in mind, the challenge going on over at the Indian Craft Room (ICR). The challenge asks for you to make an easel card with basic shapes incorporated into it...check it out!

* Happy Diwali** The Festival of Lights

Hey Everyone!

Today is Diwali....also known as the "festival of lights!"  It's a beautiful Indian festival celebrated with family and friends to mark the triumph of GOOD over EVIL.  During the days leading to Diwali, families celebrate by taking part in traditional activities in their homes and neighborhoods.  Some of these activities include festive fireworks, sharing of sweets, creating rangoli designs, and lighting up oil lamps aka LIGHTS.....LOTS AND LOTS OF LIGHTS!

My favorite of all the activities has to be the Rangoli designs...they are designs created by doorways to welcome people into their homes.  My cousin Shital created this Rangoli design.  She drew it out on a white sheet, and then began to fill it in with colorful sand.  It was done over a span of a few day.   As you can see, it is gorgeous!

Here are some pics...from start to finish!

Beautiful huh!?  Glad I could share this with you!

I also wanted to share with you a very cool giveway at Everyday is a Holiday!  Jenny Holiday is giving away a Cuttlebug!  Stop by and enter to win...it's really easy.  Take a look around her blog as well...it's just lovely!
